Ciro Immobile makes it 200 in Serie A: Lazio drops hat trick at Cagliari
Cagliari-Lazio 1-3
The Saturday of the 24th day of Serie A opened with the external success of Lazio, which beat Cagliari 1-3 in a match dominated for large stretches by the Capitoline team. Historic day for the biancocelesti striker Ciro Immobile, who found his 200th goal in the Italian top flight.
The first chance è for Lazio on 6’: on the development of a corner kick, Gaetano unintentionally deflects the ball towards his goal, forcing Scuffet into a difficult intervention. A minute later, the former Udinese goalkeeper was again the protagonist, as he removed a precise shot by Immobile from the cross of the posts. On 26’ comes the goal of the lead for Maurizio Sarri’s men: on the development of a free kick, Isaksen lets off a low and precise cross that finds the deflection of Deiola, who inserts in his goal. After coming close to doubling the lead several times, the first big chance for Cagliari also arrives: in the midst of the recovery, Viola crosses for Lapadula, who deflects a header towards the goal, finding Provedel’s parry with his foot.
The second half opened immediately with a mauling for Cagliari, as on 49’ the biancocelesti found the double with Immobile, who found his 200th seal in Serie A. The joy for the Capitolini, however, lasts very little, because Ranieri’s team immediately shortens the distance with the newly acquired Gaetano, who on an assist from the sub Luvumbo beats Provedel with a precise right-footed shot.
At 61’ it needed an excellent intervention of the biancoceleste extreme defender to deny the personal double to the Napoli-owned player. In the hosts’ best moment, however, it was the guests who found the third goal with Felipe Anderson, who beat Scuffet thanks also to a deflection by Zappa that put Scuffet out of action. Despite the attempt to reopen the game, the best chance in the last third of the match è for Lazio, with Kamada, who after jumping two players hits the post from a good position.
With the success at Unipol Domus, the biancocelesti moved up to sixth place in the standings with 37 points, while the islanders remain in second-to-last place with 18 points. On the next day, the Capitolini will receive Bologna, while the Rossoblù will face Udinese.
