Andrea Vavassori warns Carlos Alcaraz
Andrea Vavassori has no intention of stopping at the Buenos Aires ATP 250. After making it through the qualifiers, the Turin-based tennis player beat Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild in two quick sets (6-3 6-1) in the first round and repeated himself in the round of 16, defeating the much higher-ranked Serbian Laslo Djere, world number 35 and seventh seed in the seeding, with a score of 6-4 7-5.
"From qualifying to the quarters…è really an incredible feeling – admitted the Italian to the official ATP channels -. I played very well already in Australia and in fact in Melbourne I reached the final in doubles together with Simone Bolelli. That definitely gave me a lot of confidence. Playing doubles helps me grow and improve also in singles".
Vavassori will now face world number two and number one seed Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, scheduled for Friday no earlier than 10:30 p.m. on the center court of the Argentine tournament: "Now I’m waiting for my next opponent…All in all, I like to be an underdog".
