Marta Bassino beaming, didn't expect it. Federica Brignone proud: "No mistakes"

Marta Bassino enjoys her first win in a World Cup downhill: the Cuneo skier è beaming after her success in Cran Montana. "I did not expect to win in downhill, but I always believed in my speed. I knew I had two good disciplines to focus on like giant and superg, but I was aware that even in downhill I could have my say".

"It’ my first victory in downhill: in 2020 the second place in Bansko had come in more difficult conditions, instead I won on a downhill slope, with sliding sections where I often struggled. The low starting number definitely helped but I am really happy because I always believed and worked for it: my moment finally è arrived", Bassino continued.

It's a victory that partly redeems a complicated season: "It's good to be back on top in a season where important results were lacking. Today I did everything right, making the difference in the final wall. It wasnè t easy to manage the past few months, but I always gave myself patience, knowing that everything would return to normalà"

Federica Brignone è satisfied with her second place: "I am happy, I did what I could do without big mistakes like in the last races. I did what I know how to do: Marta è was perfect, but I’m proud of what I did; too bad for Laura Pirovano, it would have been nice to be three on the podium".

Soì Pirovano, fourth for the second day in a row: "I’m happy to still be theì in front; too bad that in the final the snow let up a little too much; I knew there was a door a little bit’ ruined and maybe I held moreù than I should".
