Volta ao Algarve, Remco Evenepoel wins the time trial. Sixth Ganna

Belgian Remco Evenepoel won, dominating it, the fourth stage of the Volta ao Algarve, a 22-kilometer time trial starting and finishing in Albufeira.

Evenepoel, who of the time trial è reigning world champion, set the best time from the first intermediate and finished the stage 16 seconds ahead of Magnus Sheffield of the United States and 29 ahead of Stefan Kung of Switzerland.

Fourth place for the surprising Mexican Del Toro and fifth for Mattia Cattaneo who by a handful of hundredths did better than Filippo Ganna, sixth at 47" from the winner.

With today’s success Evenepoel also took the lead in the overall standings, taking it away from Colombian Daniel Martinez, today eighth at 51" from the Belgian.

Tomorrow is the fifth and final stage, Faro-Alto do Malhao of 165.8 kilometers with the last climb to be repeated twice, 2.5 kilometers at 9.6 percent.
