ATP 500 Rotterdam, Jannik Sinner repeats: after Australian Open, his own trophy
Another tournament win, after Melbourne triumph.
Jannik Sinner is off to the best start since the Australian Open, also winning the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam. The formidable South Tyrolean, already certain to have become No. 3 on the world circuit for just participating in the final act of the Dutch event, managed to prevail in two sets over Alex De Minaur, who also sold his skin dearly in about two hours and five minutes of play. The final score in fact reads 7-5, 6-4.
Complex the first set, which lasted a full 64 minutes. After an initial study phase, which saw the two contenders win the first games on their own serve until 2-2, Sinner shifted gears in the fifth game, snatching the first break of the match. After getting to 5-4, però the South Tyrolean wasted no less than four set points, allowing De Minaur to get back on 5-all. The last two games were però perfect for Sinner, who overcame the moment of difficulty and went on to win the set.
The second set è consumed itself under the banner of great balance until the eternal fifth game, in which Sinner snatched service from his opponent after a full 18 points. De Minaur, however, answered with an immediate counterbreak, without, however, frightening the San Candido champion, who did the same in the seventh game. Therefore, the tenth game was decisive, with the first match point giving new joy to the San Candido prodigy.
