Final Eight Coppa Italia, Milan wants the record.
The final è scheduled for 5:45 p.m. today. Olympia overwhelming favorite
Olimpia Milano is dominating the Final Eight of the Italian Cup being held in Turin. It swept away Trento and Venice with authority and, now, is waiting to face in the final (today, 5:45 p.m.), Napoli, to secure the trophy. A title that would give meaning to AX's season ahead of the final rush, with the Scudetto (the red-and-whites's stated goal) still up for grabs.
Milan has won, throughout its history, the Italian Cup on eight occasions. It holds, at the moment, the title of most winning club along with Virtus Bologna and Pallacanestro Treviso. By winning the final with Napoli, here it would be the winningest club in the Italy Cup roll of honor. It would also win the third Italian Cup in the last four editions.
On paper, Coach Messina’s battleship appears a clear favorite against cinderella Napoli. Too much the difference in qualityà between the two rosters. However, Milan does not want to get distracted and aims to take the court determined and focused as è it has been in the first two challenges of the tournament. Napoli has won the Coppa Italia on only one occasion: in 2006, beating Virtus Roma in the final.
