Jannik Sinner also takes Rotterdam: “So much pride, I still want to improve.”
A new victory, greeted with words of great pride.
Jannik Sinner also won the ATP 500 Rotterdam tournament, following the Australian Open that had made his 2024 start in the best possible way. The South Tyrolean champion, having just finished the final against Alex De Minaur and won in two sets (7-5, 6-4), speaks to the microphone with great calm and composure. And besides giving credit to his opponent, he extols the Dutch public and the team that is supporting him in these unforgettable months.
"We did a beautiful job a few weeks ago, and we repeated ourselves here,” said Sinner, referring to Melbourne and beyond.
I’m proud of my team and myself for how I was able to play this week in Rotterdam. We’ve had some tough times, but we’re moving in the right direction. We will always try to improve, and the most important thing è this".
So some thoughts on his opponent in the Rotterdam final, and on the tournament in general. "Facing De Minaur è very difficult, I’d rather play doubles with him than face him,” explained Sinner. “Alex è one of the nicest people on the circuit, and è nice to hang out with him and talk to him. He is getting better and better every week. Finally è a pleasure to play here, in Rotterdam the è organization è wonderful and the audience è wonderful. The people who attend our matches are very fair, even when we play against the home favorites. You show so much respect, and that è one of the reasons I love playing here".
