Valentino Rossi finishes just short of podium finish at Bathurst 12 Hours
The crew of Team WRT with Valentino Rossi, Raffaele Marciello and Maxime Martin è fifth
It ends with a fifth place, just over 2 seconds behind the podium, the Bathurst 12 Hours of Bathurst of the crew driving the number 46 BMW consisting of Valentino Rossi, Raffaele Marciello and Maxime Martin. A significant result for the 'Doctor' who starts his 2024 four-wheeled season with a Top 5 finish.
The race è was won by the Porsche 911 of the Manthey Racing/EMA Motorsport team driven by Australian Matthew Campbell, Turkish Ayhancan Guven and Belgian Laurenz Vanthoor. Second place, on the other hand, went to the Mercedes AMG of the SunEnergy1 Racing team on which Frenchman Jules Gounon, Australian Kenny Habul and German Luca Stolz took turns at the wheel.
Rounding out the podium was the Team Melbourne Performance Centre crew of German Christopher Haase, Australian Liam Talbot and South African Kelvin van der Linde. Fourth, just ahead of the 'Doctor' and his teammates, were Denmark's Bastian Buus, Sweden's Joel Ericsson and New Zealand's Jaxon Evans, bearer of Phantom Global Racing/Team 75.
The race, characterized by unstable weather, saw the crew of the No. 46 car in the fight for the podium practically until the last few laps: only a few minutes from the end did Martin, at the wheel in the last stint, make a mistake that forced him to give up and settle for an however important fifth place finish.
