Venice held back by Modena: Parma runs away
The gap from the top rises to 9, but more importantly, the second place fades away.
Venice still held back, this time at home by an indomitable Modena. In Sant'Elena it ends 2-2, with the hosts leading twice, but on both occasions remounted by the guests. And the standings at the top of Serie B begin to get crowded: if leading Parma escapes to 54 points, now Cremonese è second alone at 46. Lagunari in the group of third, on 45 points along with Palermo and Como.
The match turns on at 18', when a deflection in the area of Cauz between chest and shoulder induces the referee to assign a penalty to Venezia: the Var, however, reviews the decision. On 25' è then Tessmann to make the home crowd cheer, but again Var intervenes and cancels for offside. The long-awaited Laguna advantage then arrived in the first-half recovery, for a penalty awarded for Battistella’s foul on Zampano and converted by Pohjanpalo.
In the second half, however, everything happens: at 61' Gerli receives the ball from Andersen and unleashes a great right-footer from the distance that allows Modena to equalize, but it lasts only ten minutes. In fact, at 71' again Pohjanpalo scores on the development of a corner, after a great save by Riccio on Svoboda’s framing. The final equalizer came at 77', when Palumbo had a penalty kick disallowed by Joronen and then beat him on the rebound.
