Another great result for Jasmine Paolini, who in the round of 16 of the Dubai WTA 1000 beat Greek Maria Sakkari, world number 11, with a score of 6-4 6-2 and will now faceà the winner between Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina and Poland’s Magdalena Frech.

Three consecutive breaks in the first three games of the match, two in favor of the number 8 on the scoreboard, but the Tuscan recovered from 1-3 to 3-3 and then on 5-4 wrested service from her opponent, taking home the first set.

In the second set, too, Sakkari started off better at 2-0 but Jasmine strung together six consecutive games saving no less than five break points, three in the third game and two in the seventh, and closing at the first opportunity after erasing four balls to the Greek to shorten the distance.
