Tennis, sprint start for Arnaldi and Cobolli in Acapulco
The magic moment of Italian tennis continues
.
Italian tennis is experiencing a magic moment. On the wave of enthusiasm for the phenomenal results Sinner is getting, so many other Azzurri are putting themselves on the map, winning outstanding results. At the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco, Arnaldi and Cobolli made excellent debuts, overcoming two major players like Fritz and Auger-Aliassime.
After beating Ruud (then No. 4 in the world) in 2023, Arnaldi again beat a Top 10 player. This time the blue è won over Fritz in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-3), at the end of a spectacular match with Arnaldi able to overcome at his best the difficult moments he had. In the next round, he will face Shelton, another respectable opponent.
Cobolli’s victory was also dreamy. After losing the first partial (6-2), the Italian, who came from the qualifiers, shifted gears and began to put Auger-Aliassime in trouble. The Canadian lost confidence in his own strokes, leaving the next two sets to Cobolli, who won rather sharply (6-3, 6-2). The match è lasted one hour and 58 minutes with the blue deservedly winning.
