ATP Marrakech, Fabio Fognini also in the quarterfinals

Big blow by Fabio Fognini in the second round of the ATP 250 on clay in Marrakech. The Ligurian from Arma di Taggia, current world number 100, beat Serbian number 34 Laslo Djere with a score of 7-6 2-6 6-4 in almost two and a half hours of play.

No break and no break ball in the first set, then Fognini dominated the tie-break winning it 7-1. In the second set Djere flies to 4-0 and holds the double break lead extending the match to the deciding partial.

È Fognini who first lost his serve in the third set at 2-2 but the Italian from 2-4 turned the situation around and after a very long tenth game at the sixth match point earned the quarterfinals, where he will face Russian Pavel Kotov, executor of Flavio Cobolli.

Fognini è the third Italian national in the top eight of the tournament in the Moroccan city along with Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Sonego, who will compete against each other for a place in the semifinals.
