Luciano Darderi in the quarterfinals in Houston

In the’ATP 250 on the Houston clay Luciano Darderi, world number 72 and on a great rise, beats Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, number 23, with a score of 6-4 2-6 7-6 and qualifies for the quarterfinals, where he will face the winner of the U.S. derby between Marcos Giron and J.J. Wolf.

Only one break in the first set and it was won by Darderi, who after missing two break points at 1-1 and one at 2-2 snatched service from his opponent and held the lead until the conclusion of the partial.

In the second set Cerundolo saves one’another break point in the very long third game, then from 2-2 he threads five consecutive gae and also has two 2-0 balls in the third set.

Darderi cancels them, then from 2-2 to 4-4 there are four breaks in a row and eventually it goes to the tie-break, in which Darderi goes to 3-1 and then to 6-3 closing the match 7-4 after two and a half hours of battle.
