Mancini surprises Milan at San Siro: Roma makes it 0-1
A closely fought match rewards the guests.
Roma ran away at San Siro, where Milan fell in the all-Italian derby valid for the Europa League quarterfinals. It ended 0-1, with Gianluca Mancini’s decisive goal in the first half. The Rossoneri struggled to react, but tried to storm back in the final part of the match: useless protests over a possible penalty, bitter in the mouth for a crossbar hit by Olivier Giroud.
Roma immediately showed its intentions with an attempt from a deflected position by Dybala, on the other side Svilar opposed Reijnders. But it is the guests who look for the goal with more insistence: first Maignan saves everything on El Shaarawy, then nothing canò on Mancini. Just the defender, already decisive in the derby, repeated himself on 17' framing in the net on a corner beaten by Dybala. Milan tried to fight back from Giroud, on whom Lukaku even saved, not as good when he had the doubling ball on his feet. Unlucky, in the final half, Leao and Reijnders, but also El Shaarawy again goes close to the goal of the'ex.
After a throbbing first half one would expect a resumption at a very high pace especially from Milan, which però struggles to severely engage Svilar again. Soì after the hour of play è Pellegrini to go within a step of doubling Roma, imitated a few seconds later by Cristante. Then in the last minutes the Rossoneri woke up, but è it was too late: Theo Hernandez header missed the goal, Reijnders and Adli did not surprise Svilar, then came Giroud’s cross and Abraham’s possible touch in the box. The Var does not detect anything and Roma centered the feat.
