Masters 1000 Monte Carlo, when Jannik Sinner and the other Italians play
At the Country Club of Monte Carlo è the day dedicated to the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 of the Principality of Monaco, and as many as three Italians will take the court.
In the third match on the center court, dedicated to Prince Rainier III, the first Italian to play will be world number 24 Lorenzo Musetti, opposing world number 1 Novak Djokovic, with whom ‘last year just in Monte Carlo and in the round of 16 he won in three sets and in a comeback for the first time after three defeats against the Serb.
Next on the same ampo will be Jannik Sinner, who will have to contend with German world number 25 Jan-Lennard Struff, with whom he won the only previous one last month 6-3 6-4 in the Indian Wells round of 16.
Finally, the last match on the Princes’ Cape, the second in importance, will face Lorenzo Sonego, world number 57, and Frenchman Ugo Humbert, number 15. The precedents speak of two wins on each side but Sonego has won both of those on clay, the one last year in the first round in the Principality followed by the one at Roland Garros.
