With 10 days to go before the Giro d'Italia, which will start on May 4 from Venaria Reale, the entrants who will battle it out in the 21 stages have been announced. As in 2023, it will beà Rome that will celebrate the winner of the Trofeo Senza Fine.
There are many fast men at the start of the Corsa Rosa for what is shaping up to be a truly stellar challenge in the bunch finishes. The leader è the Cyclamen Jersey of 2023, Jonathan Milan, who has confirmed his worth by imposing himself in two stages and in the Tirreno-Adriatico Points Classification.
Among the most anticipated sprinters, and already capable of winning in the Giro d'Italia, are Caleb Ewan (5 successes), Fernando Gaviria (5), Alberto Dainese (2), Kaden Groves (1), Biniam Girmay (1), and Tim Merlier (1).
Making their debut in the Corsa Rosa are Fabio Jakobsen, 46 career victories including 6 in the Grand Tours, and two young sprinters who have come into their own as Olav Kooij, 4 seasonal victories, and Laurence Pithie, winner of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and seventh at Paris-Roubaix.
Completing the list of sprint contenders are Phil Bauhaus, Sam Welsford, Juan Sebastian Molano and Enrico Zanoncello.
