Roma folds Udinese as time expires, Cristante ruins Cannavaro’s debut
Udinese-Roma (resumed from 1-1 to 72') ends 1-2
After the home rout against Bologna, Roma took an important revenge by ending with a win the continuation of the home match against Udinese interrupted last April 14 at 1-1 because of the illness felt by Evan Dicka that had led the players to ask for and obtain a suspension. Giving the three points to De Rossi è Bryan Cristante at the expiration time, on the other hand Fabio Cannavaro's adventure as a coach in Serie A starts badly.
The Roma coach è forced by events to do without several players on the field 11 days ago: in addition to Ndicka, there are no Llorente, Paredes, Lukaku, Baldanzi and Zalewski, replaced by Smalling, Mancini, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Abraham, Azmoun and Spinazzola. On the other hand, the players are the same on the field at the time of the suspension, but è the coach is different: today's was in fact the debut not only in bianconero but also in the Italian top flight for Cannavaro, who was called a few days ago to replace Gabriele Cioffi.
The match was short but intense and after a brief moment of study saw a sensational opportunity on each side: at 82'82; Lorenzo Lucca came close to scoring, finding the prompt response of Svilar, four minutes later Azmoun found himself alone in front of Okoye, but was unable to take advantage and practically kicked on the Nigerian goalkeeper.
During the last lap of the clock the decisive action: brushstroke from a corner kick by Dybala, Cristante gets the timing of the jump and header right, thus going on to score the winning goal. There remains only time to take the kickoff, referee Pairetto whistles shortly after and Roma can rejoice: the three points confirm it fifth at +4 over Atalanta (which has one game less). On the other hand, Udinese still sees black: with 28 points it remains in third to last place, shared with Frosinone.
