Madrid: Jannik Sinner will play against Karen Khachanov

Jannik Sinner will be regularly on the court against Karen Khachanov in the round of 16 match of the Madrid Masters 1000. According to reports in 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', the South Tyrolean tennis player has cleared his doubts after training around lunchtime to test the condition of his right hip.

The world number two again felt pain in his right hip in the third-round match with Kotov, a problem he had already experienced since Monte-Carlo, as testified by Jannik himself in the press conference after the victory over Kotov: "I have had some problems with my right hip in the last period but it is nothing serious".

"Sometimes I feel it a little bit’ stronger like today, other times less. I have a team that takes good care of me and I hope tomorrow to be ready for the next game" had added the blue.

The match between Sinner and Khachanov è scheduled on court "Arantxa Sanchez", after the match between Alexander Zverev and Francisco Cerundolo. The previous record between the Italian and the Russian says 3-1 in Sinner’s favor: Khachanov won the first head-to-head confrontation at the 2020 Us Open, then the South Tyrolean è won in the other three challenges (twice at the Australian Open, in 2021 and 2024, and once in Miami, in 2021).
