Olimpia Milano, Ettore Messina reveals the difficulties he had
The red and whites, to save the season, must win the tricolor
An uphill season for Olimpia Milano. To date, no trophy won and the bitter elimination from the Euroleague play-offs. All that remains for AX is to win the tricolor in order not to brand the current season as a complete failure. As partial justification for the negative results, an endless sequence of injuries and some wrong choices when creating the team, as coach Messina explains in Repubblica.
In particular, the choice of point guard è was not correct: "We did not handle well the Rodriguez-Delaney post, who left Olimpia for different reasons, not guaranteeing the same level in that position", the words of coach Messina.
There is also a focus on Mirotic. The great acquisition of last summer, also accomplice to many injuries (problems with the d'Achilles tendon in primis), has not è managed to make his mark as expected, although, in this final season, his immense class could come in very handy.
"I don’t want to hide behind a finger: transplanting to this team a player as good and famous as Mirotic è was not easy. We had, let’s say soè difficulties; which in many moments, then, were smoothed out. We hope that in the final phase of the season they will not come again", the coach'Olimpia Milano's closing remark.
