Euro 2024: an own goal is enough, France qualifies for the quarters. Belgium out

France è qualified for the quarterfinals of Euro 2024: the Bleus won, struggling, 1-0 thanks to Vertonghen's own goal. First half at a low pace, France tries to play the game but è too slow and predictable at the start. The Gaullets discover the flank for the Red Devils counterattacks, who fail to take advantage of their chances. The first big chance è by Marcus Thuram, who sends a header high, then before halftime Tchoumaneni tries, without success.

In the resumption France more enterprising in attack but not very precise, while Belgium makes itself dangerous are with some accelerations. Lukaku triggered by De Bruyne engages Maignan, good at opposing.

The match is decided in the last minutes: at the 83'83' De Bruyne has a great chance on a counterattack, but Maignan says no, and two minutes later France passes. Kanté finds Kolo Muani vertically, the PSG striker's shot is deflected by Vertonghen and becomes impregnable for Casteels. Belgium tries desperately to make an assault in the last minutes but there is nothing more to be done.
