Wimbledon enigma, Jannik Sinner's analysis
During an interview granted to The Times, Jannik Sinner analyzed the Wimbledon tournament, which ends July 14, as follows: "I am ready to give 100 percent. I don’t know if I’m the favorite to win Wimbledon".
"If Djokovic regains physical stability he will be very difficult to beat. Alcaraz won here last year. I also have my chances exactly like them, of course, but let's see. All these questions will be answered in the next two weeks" said the racquet ace.
Staggering prize money for Wimbledon: the All England Club, which organizes the Grand Slam's only tournament on grass, has put up a total prize pool that amounts to 50 million pounds, about 59 million euros at today's exchange rate. The champions and runners-up in men’s and women’s singles will receive 2.7 million pounds (3.2 million euros) and 1.4 million pounds (1.7 million euros), respectively. Each tennis player who participates in the first round will start from a prize base of 60 thousand pounds (71'000 euros). Prizes for the men’s and women’s doubles champions also go up (650'000 pounds, or 770’000 euros).
