Coni’s top executive: "The air has è become unbreathable"

The rout against Switzerland still causes much discussion. More than the elimination, the way in which the national team è exited Euro 2024, that is, without at least trying to fight and show that they have their own dignity, already goes to no one. On the issue è also returned Malagò, through the columns of Corriere della Sera.

"Faced with the defeat with Switzerland I thought I was in an episode of 'Scherzi a parte'. I è happened to witness defeats, of course. In individual sports it may happen that the tennis player or swimmer on duty on the very day of the competition, because of a physical or mental problem, has a bad performance. But in a team sport, with the possibility of making five substitutions out of eleven, the scene è seemed unlikely. The players on the field conveyed the feeling of frustration and humiliation", his clear words.

The Coni number one also spoke about Spalletti and the many calls for his resignation from the media and Azzurri fans: "The coach must know how to manage a group according to his own tactical ideas. His resume speaks for itself but è it is clear that he has responsibilities. Resignation? Just a moment. Those who now call for them forget that last year they considered Spalletti the best coach available".

There is also talk of Gravina, who, as is well known, has convened for next November 4 the assembly to elect the new FIGC president: "Gravina was told that he could not dilate in time this situation: the air has become unbreathable. Before this national tragedy, federal elections were supposed to be held between February and March next year. Instead, he called them in November, at the earliest possible date. Whoever arrives will take responsibility and decide whether to grant confidence to Spalletti or make other evaluations".
