Azzurri ready to assert themselves

Paralympic fencing will live in Warsaw the’last act before Paris. Next weekend will be devoted to the World Cup stage in the Polish capital (July 4-7), where the World Championships in category C and team saber (July 7 and 8), specialties not included in the Paralympic Games calendar, will also be staged.

It begins with the World Cup, which in Warsaw will represent for Bebe Vio Grandis and teammates, returning from the collegiate retreat in Viterbo, a true dress rehearsal ahead of Paris.

On July 4, the first day of competition, on the piste from 9 a.m. men’s epee A with Matteo Dei Rossi, Edoardo Giordan and Emanuele Lambertini. At the same time the start of women’s saber B with Rossana Pasquino. From 1 p.m. space also for men’s epee B (Michele Massa and Gianmarco Paolucci) and women’s saber A (Andreea Ionela Mogos and Loredana Trigilia).

Friday, July 5 will be women’s foil day. At 9 a.m. the women’s foil A category (Andreea Ionela Mogos and Loredana Trigilia) and men’s saber B (Gianmarco Paolucci). At 1 p.m. the start of women’s foil B, with Bebe Vio Grandis returning to the platform, and men’s saber A with Matteo Dei Rossi and Edoardo Giordan.

Saturday the 6th will see the last individual trials of the World Cup. At 9 a.m. the men’s foil A (Matteo Betti and Emanuele Lambertini) and women’s epee B (Rossana Pasquino) will be on the piste. Off at 1 p.m. for men’s foil B with Michele Massa and women’s epee A.

Sunday 7 space for team competitions with Italy present in both men’s foil (Matteo Betti, Emanuele Lambertini and Michele Massa) and women’s epee (with Andreea Ionela Mogos, Rossana Pasquino and Loredana Trigilia). On the same day the World Championships Category C kicks off. On the piste the men’s foil with Leonardo Rigo and William Russo.

On Monday, 8, the last day of competitions in Warsaw, it will be time for the two saber team competitions that are worth the World Championships, as they are not included in the program of the Paralympic Games. Italy will be present in the men’s with Nicola D’Ambra, Matteo Dei Rossi, Edoardo Giordan and Gianmarco Paolucci while in the women’s the quartet è composed of Julia Markowska, Andreea Ionela Mogos, Rossana Pasquino and Loredana Trigilia. The last competition on the program è that of men’s epee C which will see Leonardo Rigo and William Russo still engaged.

The blue expedition will be led by Paralympic Sector Coordinator Dino Meglio and Weapon Managers Marco Ciari for saber, Francesco Martinelli for epee and Simone Vanni for foil. Also accompanying the Azzurri are coach Antongiulio Stella, physiotherapist Giulia Talluri and doctor Riccardo Lanzano. Italian referees will be Pasqualino Romano and Alessia Tognolli.

For the World Championship Category C and team saber the Head of Delegation will be Alberto Ancarani, who will be at the side of the athletes together with Federal President Paolo Azzi.
