Copa America: Colombia stops Brazil and qualifies as first
On the night the Copa America group stage officially ended with the last two matches of Group D. The match between Colombia and Brazil è ended in a draw with the score 1-1 and this result allowed the Cafeteros to continue their unbeaten streak (which has continued since 2022) and qualify as first in the group.
Unlocking the result first è was Brazil on 12' with Raphinha, then in full first half recovery è came the equalizing goal scored by Daniel Munoz. In the ranks of the Selecao, in addition, in the second half è came a heavy yellow card for Vinicius Jr, who was cautioned and will be forced to miss the quarterfinals.
It was of little use, however, Costa Rica’s success over Paraguay, as the draw between Colombia and Brazil arithmetically ousted the Gustavo Alfaro-coached national team. The red and white national team consoled itself with third place in the group, thanks to goals scored by Francisco Calvo and Josimar Alcocer in the first ten minutes of the match. It was of little use for the banidera goal scored by Ramon Sosa for Paraguay at 55'.
In the quarterfinals, Colombia will face Panama, while Brazil, which finished the round in second place, will have to contend with Uruguay without Vinicius Jr.
