Pre-Olympic, Gianmarco Pozzecco realistic: “Better than us.”

The Poz regretted not having more time

The Olympics dream è vanished. Basketball Italy did not è qualify for Paris 2024. Lithuania was too strong to hope to beat it. Even coach Pozzecco, in the post-game, did not look for excuses or alibis, pointing out the superiority shown on the court by the team of the Lithuanian star, as well asè NBA star, Sabonis.

"Kudos to Lithuania. They played better than we did. I am very proud of my players, who again tonight put everything they had on the court. We tried until the end even though in the last 5 minutes we had no more energy", the words of coach Pozzecco.

Only one regret thinking back to this pre-Olympic ended with only one win and two losses: "Too bad we didn’t have more time to prepare for the competition but this is not è an excuse. We gave everything we had".

He is echoed by Melli, one of the pillars of the national team: "Congratulations to them. We know that qualifying for the Olympics è always very difficult. We came here with the hope and intention to succeed. We did not succeed. So congratulations to Puerto Rico who beat us two days ago and to Lithuania. But I am always very proud of the team. We put in everything we had and we have nothing to regret".
