Cagliari, double deal: two pawns arrive from Atalanta
Double operation defined.
Cagliari soccer market: Davide Nicola is ready to embrace two reinforcements, one for the attack and one for the side lanes, both coming from Atalanta. They are Roberto Piccoli and Nadir Zortea, who will leave Bergamo and Gian Piero Gasperini’s court to move to Sardinia. The two operations, however, involve two different formulas.
As confirmed by 'Sky Sport', the agreement with Atalanta for Piccoli è on loan with right of redemption and counter-redemption. This will give Cagliari the opportunity to check the performance on the field of the class 2001 center forward, who just returned from a season in which he scored 5 goals in Serie A with the Lecce shirt, before securing him outright.
Instead, he will become fully Cagliari’s class of 1999 Zortea. A defensive flanker born in Feltre, in the Belluno area, he è actually grew up in the youth academy of Atalanta where he never è managed to find himself an important space in the first team. Last season he scored a goal for the Nerazzurri in the league opener against Sassuolo and also made his debut in the Europa League, only to be sold to Frosinone. Previous loans saw him wear the shirts of Cremonese in the cadetteria and then Salernitana and Sassuolo itself, both in Serie A.
Even more multifaceted is the career of Piccoli, whose first game in Serie A with Atalanta dates as far back as 2019 (he was just 18 years old). In the following years came several loan assignments, all in the top division, which led him to play over time for Spezia, Genoa, Verona and Empoli before his recent experience at Lecce.
