David Coulthard dà curious advice to Carlos Sainz

Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard in the course of the podcast ”Formula for Success” run together with Eddie Jordan gave a singular piece of advice to Carlos Sainz: instead of accepting the market sirens of Alpine or other teams such as Williams and Audi he tells him to stay at Ferrari as a third driver. Here are the words of the 53-year-old Scottish former Williams, McLaren and Red Bull reported by gazzetta.it.

"Williams has confirmed interest in having him on the team, Audi would like him alongside Nico Hulkenberg, but in reality; I think Carlos would be better off telling Ferrari: 'He’ll be your back-up driver for the next two years, because I guess Lewis won’t be doing a third year".

"Carlos would have two years to get in shape, take a little mental break from F1, and then, at 32, he could take the wheel of a car developed together with Lewis and Charles again,” Coulthard continued. He could win the title. Can heò win a title with Alpine in the next three years? Can heò win it at Williams in the next three years? Can heò do it with Audi in the next three years? I would have to say no".

David Coulthard raced in F1 from 1994 to 2008, winning 13 Grand Prix, setting 12 pole positions and 18 fastest laps, and was runner-up in the 2001 world championship. Carlos Sainz, on the other hand, è was put out the door by Ferrari to make way for Lewis Hamiton from 2025, but the Spaniard will continue to race with the Maranello-based manufacturer until the end of the season.
