An historic final, which even the person directly involved was not convinced he could hit.

Novak Djokovic rules Lorenzo Musetti and hits the Wimbledon 2024 final for the tenth time in his career, a tournament the Serbian star was not even certain he could play. He admitted it himself, a few minutes after the 6-4, 7-6(2), 6-4 trimmed in less than three hours of play to the Tuscan who in turn è stopped just a step away from history. That is, from the final act of the prestigious kermesse played on the grass of London.

"I did not know if I would take part in Wimbledon,” Djokovic revealed hotly. “I arrived in London eight days before the start of the tournament, and the doubts were many. After a few sets played with very strong opponents, however, I realized that I was in condition to make it to the end. If that had not been the case, I would not have even started. Once on the court, però, this gave me additional motivation".

Djokovic also wanted to illustrate what Wimbledon represents to him: "I dreamed about it as a child, when I was seven years old I was in Serbia with bombs over my head and I liked to build this tournament in my room with what I found. Then I would stare at myself in the mirror as I lifted the trophy. I was lucky enough to actually get there, and for that I have to thank my family, my wife and also my children".

Now the challenge with Carlos Alcaraz, whom Djokovic wanted to praise: "He è a great example of a young man who è was able to become a winner very early, thanks to the balanced life he leads on and off the court. He always smiles, has great values and deserves to be the strongest 21-year-old in the history of sports. I am sure he will win a lot of Slams, hopefully not the one next Sunday. Especially since here in Wimbledon he beat me in the final already last year".
