Bitter final for Jasmine Paolini at Wimbledon. The Italian tennis player, in fact, saw her dream of winning her first Slam fade away at the most beautiful, having to surrender to Czech Barbora Krejcikova, who won the match and the tournament with a score of 6-2 2-6 6-4.
The match started immediately uphill for the Tuscan player, who immediately surrendered her serve in the opening game. The Brno native, after confirming the break, manages to be more incisive than her opponent in response and in no time flies away on 4-1. Paolini, for her part, struggled to find rhythm and the set ended in Krejcikova’s favor with a score of 6-2 after 35 minutes.
The second partial played out exactly the opposite of the first, with the Italian managing to break serve immediately and take a 3-0 lead. The world number 7, in addition, also manages to find more rhythm in her response. The WTA ranking number 31, on the other hand, fails to maintain the same level as in the first partial and in a short time slips to 5-2 and after three free errors loses the second set 6-2.
The third and decisive set developed in the sign of balance. However, è Krejcikova who manages to break it in the seventh game, as è Paolini commits a double fault that gives the advantage to her opponent. At 5-4 the game è tense and there are chances on both sides. After missing a match point, in fact, the player from the Czech Republic è skillfully canceled the counterbreak chance and later got a second championship point, cancelled by an excellent backhand from Paolini. The third attempt è the good one, as the Brno native closed the score thanks to an excellent first serve, becoming the new champion.
The Tuscan tennis player, thanks to her excellent run at Wimbledon, will become the new world number 5 in the WTA Ranking.
