Katie Ledecky enters her fourth Olympics still a favorite
Queen of freestyle and among the best swimmers ever, Katie Ledecky looks to Paris still as a frontrunner.
At her fourth consecutive Olympics, the American swimmer still comes in as No. 1 twelve years after her golden show in London: in 2012 just 15 years old, the American won the Olympic title in the 800 sl.
Since then she hasn't stopped, winning 10 medals at the Games, including seven gold and 26 world medals (21 of the most precious metal), and in Paris she arrives as defending champion always in the 800 and 1500, a distance introduced to women just at the past Olympics in Tokyo.
“I feel that every year I enjoy myself more and more,” says the 27-year-old from Washington, D.C., “and great credit is due to the people who have been close to me over the years during my career in Bethesda, Maryland, and Stanford, now in Florida: a team that has never let up in enthusiasm, great coaches who believe in me and push me to continue to achieve more and more important goals".
"I am really looking forward to the 800 and 1,500, and then the 400 is a great race,” Ledecky concluded. “I want to be there, and also in the 4×200".
