Davis Cup: captain Filippo Volandri explains the convocations

The Davis Cup will begin on September 10, and Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, Luciano Darderi, Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli will take part for Italy. Captain Filippo Volandri explained the convocations as follows: "ITF regulations provide that convocations are made a month and a half before the event, but precisely because of the time window separating us from the challenges in Bologna, and in view of the fact that in between there will be the Olympics, two Masters 1000s and a Slam tournament, è it is impossible to give them a concrete value". 

"Precisely becauseé I think it only makes sense from the point of view of promotion, the main factor in these convocations è is the value given by today&s ranking. It will be important to assess the state of form of the boys in the next month, that will be the main criterion in choosing the best team that can represent our national team". 

"We are happy, very happy to come back to Bologna, and we are proud to be able to play on that field again and to be able to show our value in front of a public that has always given us so much energy. We are happy to start again from the ‘Unipol Arena’, with a new goal and a new project" concluded Volandri.
