Paris Olympics: Azzurri to medal

Born in Cuneo on February 27, 1998, reserved and mild-mannered, she might seem like an ordinary girl, but when she gets on the bike, whether on the track or on the road, she reveals herself to be an exceptional talent: Elisa Balsamo wants to give excitement at the Olympics as well.

A three-time world junior champion in 2016 (omnium, team pursuit and road race), she switched to the élite category the following year, alternating competitions, including the World Championships in Bergen, with studies for classical high school.

Early in her career, she achieved great results on the track, quickly emerging among the best in Europe and winning bronze in the team pursuit at the World Championships in Apeldoorn in 2018. Three years later, he reached the ultimate consecration with two medals at the World Championships in Roubaix (silver in the team pursuit and bronze in the madison) and, above all, with the gold in the road road race at the World Championships in Flanders.

A graduate in Modern and Contemporary Letters in Turin,  to make sure she doesn&#39t miss anything she also attends the conservatory and has been playing the piano for ten years: music, literature and cycling are now an integral part of the DNA of this talented girl from Piedmont.
