Women’s soccer, the Azzurre fly to Euro 2025
Italy-Finland 4-0
It was a perfect night for the Azzurre, who beat Finland 4-0 to take first place in the very balanced Group 1, qualifying with full merit for EURO 2025. The Netherlands must settle for second place, while the two Scandinavian selections are ‘condemned’ to the play off.
The two goals per half, first Beccari (in his first center with the national team jersey) and Giugliano, then the newly entered Cambiaghi and in the final Nyström’s own goal, make the team and the more than 2,700 spectators who filled the stands of the ‘Druso’ in Bolzano go crazy with joy.
"A fantastic evening – these are the first words of Ct Soncin – thanks to the girls, because é è thanks to them that we all were able to experience these emotions, and thanks also to the staff and to all of Italy that supported us. It was the night we wanted and è it’s right to enjoy this great joy. Now there’è again great enthusiasm around the team and we have to thank the girls for being able to drag the audience. They gave everything during the entire run, creating a very united group on the field and off: a contagious magic that also transfers to those watching us. We deserved the qualification and I am sure we will have a great European”.
Satisfied also federal president Gabriele Gravina: “What a joy the Azzurre! Today’s success represents the crowning achievement of a series of extraordinary performances in a very complicated Euro 2025 qualifying round. The path of growth started with the choice of Soncin as the National Team’s Technical Commissioner è has been unstoppable and has brought the Azzurre stably among the strongest in Europe. Congratulations to him, to his staff and especially to the girls who with quality, professionalism and character have written a beautiful page of Italian football”.
