Cantù strikes first US blow: Tyrus McGee
She finished each season in double digits in average points scored
Significant market coup for Cantù Basketball; which puts Tyrus McGee under contract. In the club’s official press release, the profile of the new acquisition is outlined: "188 cm and 90 kg guard, McGee è born March 14, 1991 in Stringtown, in the state of’Oklahoma. After attending college at Iowa State, McGee chose the Spanish second tier to begin his career by signing for Breogan. The following year he played in the Bundesliga with Bremerhaven before transferring to Orlandina this season. È the first of four consecutive years in Italy because, later, he moved to Cremona and then, after yet another exciting season, was signed by Venezia. In Veneto è he was one of the key players in Reyer’s triumphant season, culminating with the 2016-17 Scudetto victory. The following year he touched up his own scoring record in Italy, with the Pistoia jersey, thanks to a 14.1-point average season. He starts the 2018-19 season with the Turks dell’Afyon Belediye, but in January he is picked up by Sassari. In his six months in Sardinia he won the FIBA Europe Cup, ensuring an average contribution of 10.4 points in this competition as well.
After playing the French championship in Pau-Lacq-Orthez, he moves to Hapoel Holon the following season.
