Monica De Gennaro è born Jan. 8, 1987, in Piano di Sorrento, Naples province. È is 1.74 meters tall and weighs 67 kg. As a child è hyperactive, stubborn and hates defeat. She grows up but the will to win è always the same. She began playing volleyball in Sorrento, and at only 15 years old made her debut in the Serie A.
In the role of libero she represents an absolute excellence as well as a certainty for her teammates. A bulwark of the Italian defense since 2006, with the national team jersey è twice climbed on the world podium, silver in 2018 and bronze in 2022, in addition to putting the gold medal around her neck at the European Championships in 2021.
È is married to coach Daniele Santarelli, who è is also her coach at Imoco Volley Conegliano, the club with which she plays and has been racking up titles continuously since 2013 at the club level: 7 league titles, 6 Italian Cups, 8 Italian Super Cups (the first of which was with Pesaro), two Champions Leagues and two World Club Championships.
In everyday life è a normal girl who likes to listen to music, read or relax in front of a TV series. After having participated in three Olympic editions, 'Moki' arrives in Paris 2024 with the goal of diving on every ball in order to give women's volleyball Italy led by Julio Velasco the first five-circle medal in its history.
