F1, Hungary GP: Lando Norris ahead in second free practice, Charles Leclerc goes against the wall
Charles Leclerc at the wall in Practice 2
The second free practice session promotes the work of McLaren and in particular of Lando Norris, who with a time of 1:17.788 closes in front of everyone on the track day at the Hungaroring, home of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) closes in second position, 243 thousandths behind Norris, while Carlos Sainz closes with the third best time, 397 thousandths behind the best time.
Ferrari, which in the first session had placed Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in first and third position, has to deal with the troubles of the Monegasque, who in the first minutes of Practice 2 è went to the wall with his car, at the height of Turn 4: no physical problems for the driver (18th at the end of the session), there will instead be repairs to be made on his car.
Thus continues the dull moment of Leclerc, who after the success in his Monte Carlo is not managing to repeat at those levels: in Canada he è in fact retired, in Austria è came seventh in the Sprint Race and eleventh in the race, in Silverstone he è instead did not go beyond the fourteenth place.
Saturday’s day will be divided, as in all weekends without Sprint Race, into two sessions: Practice 3, scheduled at 12:30 p.m., and qualifying, which will start at 4 p.m. The GP è instead scheduled, as usual for what concerns European races, at 3 p.m. (Hungary and Italy have the same time zone).
