Obereggen prepares for mountain pasture and hut festival

On Sunday, August 4, one of the most eagerly awaited events of good food returns to Obereggen, Paradise of the Dolomites (20 minutes from Bolzano) In the shadow of the Latemar Dolomite massif, which gave its name to the magical naturalistic world Latemarium, è the traditional Feast of Alpine pastures and huts is scheduled. To reach the alpine pastures, participants, who have been numerous in past years with families from Italy and abroad, will be able to use the Ochsenweide gondola (8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.) or the Oberholz panoramic chairlift (8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.) at the special price for the occasion of 5 euros (round trip included).

The’Ochsenweide will lead’in altitude from where the event will take place among the idyllic alpine pastures of Val d’Ega, following the Latemar.Alp trail along the alpine pasture road to Pampeago. The festival will revive the’ancient tradition of Dolomite huts. Participants will be welcomed in the Ortner, Gerber, Tholer, Hofer, Baito de la Scofa, Oberholz, Mayrl, Ganischger, Zischg, Weigler, Epircher Laner and Platzl-Römerkeller barns and huts at the valley station of the Oberholz chairlift and in the eponymous Oberholz hut, a world-renowned architectural gem at 2096 meters, upstream from the chairlift.

Along the’hike, from alpine hut to alpine hut, specialties from Val d’Ega will tickle the palate of visitors. In special areas, visitors will be able to enjoy freshly prepared South Tyrolean dishes by the Young Farmers Association, the local associations of the Sport Club of Ega (skiing and soccer), the Ega Volunteer Fire Brigade, the KFS South Tyrolean Family Association of Ega, the Skiteam Latemar group, and the Tiezèr Firemen, who will tickle the palate with delicious delicacies prepared on the spot.

Unmissable feast to taste Strauben with cranberry jam, buttery apricot dumplings and succulent speck dumplings with goulash, pork ribs, game, cutlets, strudel, white würstel and much more. All enlivened by live music in the background while children can unleash all their enthusiasm on the surrounding lawns and attractions. On the Tholer-Schupf barn lawn at 11 a.m. there will be an open-air Mass. Appointment on Sunday, August 4, with the Obereggen Hut Festival, one of the most anticipated summer events in this Paradise of the Dolomites just 20 minutes from Bolzano and also easily reached by public transport.
