Some have called him the "Jannik Sinner of foil", for his ability to emerge at the world level to reach the number one position in the specialty world ranking, but Tommaso Marini, born April 17, 2000, in Ancona, Italy, wants to establish himself beyond all comparisons, perhaps by winning a gold medal that Italian fencing has resoundingly missed in Tokyo 2020.

Standing 194 cm tall and weighing 85 kg, Tommaso Marini began his career at Club Scherma Ancona, later moving to Fiamme Oro and establishing himself under coach Stefano Cerioni. In addition to fencing, Marini has practiced equestrian sports, swimming and karate, showing more than remarkable versatility.

Her hobbies include fashion, cinema, reading, music, tattoos, jewelry and travel: passions that reflect an eclectic and dynamic personality also evidenced by her social nickname, "Planet Marini". It's in foil, forò that Marini has found his true calling, becoming an internationally recognized champion.

Among his most important achievements are world and European titles at both individual and team levels. He took second place in the world championship in Cairo in 2022 and won gold with the team in the same competition. In 2023, he triumphed in Milan both individually and as a team. At the European Championships, he shined with a second place in Antalya in 2022 and a gold in Basel in 2024.

His World Cup career has seen a steady progression, culminating with a first-place finish in the 2021-2022 season. Now the Olympic debut awaits him: Marini is preparing to make an indelible mark on the Five Circles stage as well, trusting that he can inspire a movement that in Tokyo è was somewhat disappointing (no gold for the first time since 1972) but in general, at the Olympics, was able to give great satisfaction.
