Ex-Olympic blue swimmer saves little boy in Adda River
Former Blue swimmer Federico Vanelli rescued a 12-year-old boy who was at the mercy of the Adda River current. The episode è occurred at Boffalora last Saturday: the Rio 2016 Olympic finalist, 33, recounted the whole affair on Instagram.
Vanelli saw the boy in difficulty, jumped in and prevented the tragedy, managing to swim against the current and avoid the pitfalls of the river. The boy è was then taken to the hospital in Lodi in a green code.
"I was with some of my friends on the Lodi side of the Adda River, Belgiardino side, when all of a sudden from the opposite side of the river I heard a lot of chaos and a cry for help", he told the Lodi Citizen.
"When I realized that I alone could save him I jumped in, swam against the current until I reached him. I hugged him and holding him tight I managed to bring him to the opposite shore", concluded the'former blue open water swimmer.
