The medical staff of the Italian Men’s National Rugby Team issued the following medical bulletin at the end of the match against Japan played in Sapporo on Sunday, July 21.

Paolo Garbisi at min 67 of the match against Japan suffered a head injury which resulted in his exit from the field of play in application of the HIA protocol.

Immediately subjected to instrumental investigations, the player later showed a rapid functional recovery. At the moment the’athlete, monitored by the national team medical staff, is symptom-free and will follow the normal recovery process provided by the World Rugby protocol for post concussive injury recovery.

Louis Lynagh – who came off in minute 44 of the match against Japan – suffered a bruised right knee. The player will be monitored by the national team medical staff in cooperation with the Benetton Rugby medical staff. Recovery time will then be evaluated in synergy with his home club.
