Luca Marini takes a step back in time and talks about his relationship with Valentino Rossi
Luca Marini tells his story
A guest at the Giffoni Film Festival, Luca Marini talked about several topics, starting with his relationship with his brother Valentino Rossi, 18 years older than him. "When I was little, the myth of my brother was not yet so great – said the'current Honda rider in MotoGp -. I started in motorcycles becauseè I was having fun and the whole thing è started for fun".
"I did not have as a goal to become a motorcycle racer, but as I grew up I understood more who my brother was,” Marini explained, “and around the age of 14 I started to make this game my life, trying to succeed in making it a job. Although in reality; it è not è a job, becauseé when you make a game a job, then it è not really a job".
Getting on the train of memories, Luca Marini also recalled his first logo, used in his minimoto days: "It's born from the dog Guido,” he revealed, “which my brother had named for the bikes and which my dad had designed. The minimoto years were always fantastic and every rider remembers them with great pleasure".
To the guys at the Giffoni Film Festival, Marini tried to explain some of the background that MotoGp riders are protagonists of: "In the winter season together with my trainer I build the strength part, without increasing the mass too much. Instead, during the championship we switch to the maintenance phase with maximum strength recalls doing what we can in hotel gyms or with elastic bands".
"When you train alone you don’t have the adrenaline of the race that makes you forget fatigue, so reproducing race fatigueè difficult. Your body at a certain point on Sunday goes into automatic because of the adrenaline in fact when you finish the race you are very tried. The tension? It's always a positive feeling, I like the responsibility and working together with engineers of such a high level".
On the issue of safety, Marini added: "There is a lot of money required to be invested to increase the safety of a circuit, but è it is a matter for the circuits not so much for the organizers, they when they get the messages from the riders do what they can. I have to say forò that this sport è at the moment of its highest safety in history".
"The risks? Not all riders are equal and not all rationalize. We are so used to being on motorcycles and going fast that è it has become normal, the moment you are theé you never think about the possible negative consequences becauseé the pleasureè greater. You always try to do the best you can without risking your safety and the safety of others".
Finally, Marini spoke about the two-race format (Sprint Race and Grand Prix) that MotoGp introduced last season: "It's a more modern format that can work, although it loses a little bit of the value the Sunday race. At the beginning we were all against it, and even now I am still not sure if I totally like it, because this way you also lose the tension of the Sunday race, which I really liked. Soì instead you arrive with a different feeling".
