Jannik Sinner in Paris as double No. 1 but how many obstacles
Curiously, in the doubles, the No. 2 seed è the Bolelli-Vavassori pair
This is it. The Olympics are just around the corner. Jannik Sinner, after the initial scare (fever but negative Covid swab), will be present in Paris to aim to bring home one or more Olympic medals. As reiterated several times, the current world No. 1 cares so much about the Olympic tournament and will do everything to go all the way, both in singles and doubles (with partner Lorenzo Musetti).
Jannik Sinner, as is normal, è the No. 1 seed in the men’s draw (Thursday; the draw). There are plenty of opponents on the road to gold, especially the usual Carlos Alcaraz, who is determined to prove that he has something more than the Blue, even in tournaments where the game is played to the best of three sets.
The South Tyrolean, in addition to being the No. 1 seed in the men’s draw, will è also in the men’s doubles. Although both he and Lorenzo Musetti do not have a prestigious ranking in doubles, they "snatched" the first seed thanks to their ranking in singles (in compiling the seedings, tennis players choose their best ranking position between singles and doubles).
Interestingly, the No. 2 seed in the men’s draw è the pair formed by Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli. This means that, should everything go well, the doubles final could be completely blue. It won't be easy, taking into account that there are other pairs aiming for gold such as the Krawietz-Puertz duo or the one formed by Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, the real loose cannon of the doubles tournament.
