Andy Murray raises white flag: career end imminent
No dice for Andy Murray: the Scottish tennis player è was forced to forfeit the singles tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The British athlete hasn't been able to recover after back surgery, and has been forced to raise the white flag.
Murray, who won the gold medal in London and Rio de Janeiro, instead remains available for the doubles tournament, paired with Dan Evans, then will pull back the curtain on his illustrious career.
"Dan and I have made a commitment to each other to prioritize our path in doubles. Realistically, it represents the best opportunity to get to a medal. My back isnè t quite right yet and the chanceè to play two matches in one day would probably not be good", said Murray.
Murray, 37, will say goodbye to tennis at the end of the Olympics. In his career he has won three Slams, two Wimbledons and one Us Open, as well as 43 other tournaments on the ATP circuit.
