Paris: eggs missing from Olympic village, athletes in revolt
First discontent for Olympic athletes before the start of the Paris 2024 Games. Many delegations have complained about the shortage of food in the canteen of the Olympic village: in particular, there would be a lack of meat and eggs. The organization, which has to provide 40,000 meals a day, confessed to errors in calculating the athletes’ needs and explained that corrections are being made.
According to Le Figaro, several athletes reportedly complained of shortages of some particular foodstuffs, which ran out immediately. Eggs have been rationed for breakfast.
The Carrefour group, in charge of supplying foodstuffs to the Olympic village (more than 600 tons of products) acknowledged the problem, whileSodexo Live, the group in charge of catering at the Olympic sites, assured that it had taken into consideration the athletes’ requests and was "actively working to adapt our supplies to the growth of the village restaurants as well as to the actual consumption observed in the first few days".
