Paris 2024 Olympics, Jasmine Paolini gets off to a good start: first win
The Olympic journey begins in the best way.
Jasmine Paolini suffers, then regains control and beats Ana Bogdan moving on to the second round of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Two sets were enough for the Italian to get the better of her Romanian opponent, despite a complicated start. In the first set, in fact, there were as many as two breaks of disadvantage that the Tuscan è was called to come back before the 7-5, 6-3 final.
The match was played on the Lenglene court, which was indoors due to the Rain that fell on Paris, and as mentioned it started uphill for Paolini. After two fast and balanced games, Bogdan finds the break of 2-1 and repeats two games later snatching again the service from her opponent. Bravo to the Italian to recover soon after, hitting the immediate counterbreak and then winning four games in a row. The comeback from 1-4 to 5-4 then allowed her to control operations and then find a new break worth 7-5.
Less complicated was the second set, which also did not prove to be a cakewalk. Another break makes it 3-1 for Paolini, who però fails to take advantage of four opportunities to center another in the sixth game. The contention però stretches only in the minutes, becauseé Bogdan can&e no longer come back and the games are finally closed at 6-3.
"Definitely she will have her chances, è a very heartfelt appointment. I believe that she has in the ropes the possibility of going to medal. Then there are circumstances, you have to see. Every match has its own story. È a difficult tournament anyway, forò è in a location she knows very well, where she won important matches a month ago, and so I hope she can do very well", said Renzo Furlan, Jasmine Paolini’s coach, recently about her prospects at the Paris Olympics.
