Olympics, Musetti and Arnaldi get off to a strong start: beat two Frenchmen!
Excellent start for Lorenzo Musetti and Matteo Arnaldi at the Paris 2024 Olympic tournament. On the courts of Roland Garros, both the Carrarese and the Ligurian won in two sets against their respective rivals, Gael Monfils and Arthur Fils, who could count on the home crowd. With Vavassori, as many as three tennis players from the Belpaese qualified for the round of 16.
Lorenzo Musetti è was protagonist of an excellent debut in Paris, just 18 hours after the Umag final lost to Cerundolo. The tennis player from Carrara bent in two sets the host Gael Monfils with the partials of 6-1, 6-4 and è advanced to the second round of the Olympic tournament. After a splendid first set, the Carrarese contained the return of Monfils, who did not è need only a break to get back into the match. Musetti’s next opponent will be Argentine Mariano Navone, who defeated Borges in two sets.
Matteo Arnaldi è came out on top in a more tribal challenge against Arthur Fils, world number 20. The San Remo tennis player won the first set 6-4, posting the break immediately in the first game. The second partial was very hard-fought, with ours who è managed to come out on top at the tie-break after three blown match points.
In the second round Arnaldi will face the winner of the challenge between Raonic and Koepfer, while Musetti will challenge; Navone. With Vavassori, there are 3 Azzurri in the round of 16.
