Alessia Orro spoke after the victory at the Olympic opener against the Dominican Republic: "It was not an easy match, there was a phase when they put us in difficulty, but with great balance and a lot of patience we managed to take over the game coming out of the difficulties.

"They are tough opponents, nobody will give us anything here, if we want to win every single game we will have to win it. It was important to break the ice with a win, I am also happy for the entry of Gaia and Loveth who contributed to the cause. Now we will continue to work to find the right balance and continue our path as we want; we have to stay lì focused with character, strength and patience”.

She was echoed by Myriam Sylla: "If we had thought about a potentially not tough start we probably would not have been here at the Olympics, of course here are the best teams ready to exhibit their best volleyball, we knew that sooner or later they would push on the accelerator and that we could go into difficulty’which then è occurred".

"I think it is normal, è a game and it canè be there. I è liked the’attitude, the reaction and the fact that we helped each other when there’è was a need, è this is the right way to deal with a tournament like this that hides many difficulties".
