F1: Max Verstappen no longer wins, yet dominates
Three-time World Champion dry of victories for four races
Incredible but true: Verstappen no longer wins, yet his lead in the drivers’ standings increases. The three-time World Champion è ranked, after Russell’s disqualification, fourth in the Belgian GP (starting 11° on the grid). Once again, he had to watch someone else win. A scene that has been repeating itself many times lately.
Data in hand, the Dutch driver has not won for four GPs (three wins for Mercedes and one for McLaren, with Piastri). His last success was on June 23, when he è took home first place at the Spanish GP. In short, a heavy results crisis for Verstappen who, however, has a reason to smile and enjoy the summer break with serenity.
Aided by the continued mistakes of his direct rivals for the World Championship, particularly Norris, Verstappen, at the end of the Belgian GP, increased his lead in the drivers’ standings. He now has an impressive 78 points lead over Norris and 100 over Leclerc, third in the standings. Not bad for someone who has not won for four GPs in a row.
"When you start 11th, you just have to try to limit the damage in the race. Of course, looking at the championship, è it was still a positive day because é I confirmed my leadership, here where we had calculated this collateral damage", the words of Verstappen himself at the end of the Belgian GP. Now the summer break, then the Dutch GP. At home, the three-time World Champion will certainly not want to watch someone else win.
