Paris 2024 Olympics, doubts about the Seine: Gregorio Paltrinieri chimes in again
Gregorio Paltrinieri advances further doubts about the Senna
Coming back from a good performance in the 800-meter freestyle pool qualifying, with a third place in the semifinals that allows him to participate in the medal race, Gregorio Paltrinieri è spoke again on the issue related to the quality of the waters of the Seine, in which the long-distance races will be run, confirming the perplexities expressed in recent days and advancing further doubts.
"For sure, it is a difficult location because it has never been tried,” he said, interviewed by 'Rai Sport' -It seems strange to me that in an Olympic race you know the day before whether you will be able to run. The uncertainty leaves us strange, there are three days to decide. To me, however, it occurs to me that in the end, somehow, we will race in the river".
Meanwhile, the general director of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee, Etienne Thobois, through the official channels of the Games, reiterated that there are no problems at the level of the organization of the open water swimming competitions, confirming the dates scheduled in the program.
There will be two open water swimming competitions at these Olympic Games, both over the distance of 10 kilometers: the women’s race will be run on Thursday, Aug. 8, and the men’s on Friday, Aug. 9. Three years ago, in Tokyo, Paltrinieri won the bronze medal, finishing third in the men’s 10 km behind Germany’s Florian Wellbrock and Hungary’s Kristof Rasovszky.
