Visit the Eiffel Tower: athlete gets kicked out of Olympics

Very harsh punishment against Brazilian swimmer Ana Carolina Vieira, who was expelled from the Olympic Games for visiting the Eiffel Tower. The athlete violated an ironclad rule of the Brazilian Olympic committee: she left the Olympic village without permission. Vieira posted some photos of herself on the Eiffel Tower and was thus spotted by the Brazilian Federation, which decided on her expulsion.

Organizers also said that Vieira disrespectfully challenged a technical decision on relay training. Ana Vieira had competed in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay.

The decision è was approved by the president of the Brazilian federation, Gustavo Otsuka, who stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and respect during the Games. "We are not here to have fun or on vacation. We are here to work for Brazil, for the more than 200 million taxpayers who work for us".
